Sunde Land Surveying, Inc was started September 1975 by Edward
Sunde, PLS. Ed started with a staff of three people
in a small space in Bloomington, MN. Throughout
the years, he added more employees, office space and
equipment to service the growing list of clients.
He enlisted John Barnes, PLS as his office manager.
John Barnes, PLS started at Sunde Land Surveying, Inc
in May 1976 after going to Hennepin Technical College
for Land Surveying/Civil Technology and serving in the
United States Navy.

Ed used the field expertise of Mark Hanson, PLS as his Field
Supervisor. Mark managed the field crews and equipment
to keep the field crews up and running smoothly. Mark
attended Normandale Community College and has taken
various boundary law and land surveying classes at Dunwoody
Institute. Scott Soukup, PLS started as a computer draftsman
in July 1976 with Sunde Land Surveying. Scott moved
up over the years to become a key component of office
operations and office manager. He attended Hennepin
Technical College for Civil Technology and also has
taken Surveying and AutoCad classes at Dunwoody Institute
and St. Paul Technical College.
In December 1998, Ed sold Sunde Land Surveying, Inc to
John Barnes, Mark Hanson and Scott Soukup.
On January 1, 1999, Sunde Land Surveying, LLC was created.
Ed retired later that year after over 20 years of being
in business. Since 1999, Sunde Land Surveying,
LLC has grown to over 30 employees. Sunde Land Surveying,
LLC continues to be one of the premier land surveying
companies in the state of Minnesota.

In November 2006, Sunde Land Surveying, LLC purchased
Comstock and Davis, Inc. The purchase of Comstock and
Davis has added the records of over 17 surveyors records
going back to the 1800's. The surveyors include: Comstock
& Davis, Georgi-Schmidt, Cartwright & Olson,
John B. Irvine, Donald O. Weber, W.G. Ramlow, Boklep
Associates, Engineering Service Company, Knute Anker,
L.B. Bjostad, P.E.Highum, J.E. Hill, C.F. Sandhoff,
James Nelson, Metropolitan Land Surveyors, Thomas Welch,
and Leroy Winner.
In January 2007, Sunde Land Surveying, LLS opened an office
in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. This office has allowed us to better
serve our clients, accommodate projects in the fast growing North
Metro and make our field crews and office personnel more accessible.
In May 2007, Sunde Land Surveying, LLC purchased the records of the
following companies: Minnesota Valley Surveyors & Engineers Corporation,
Martinez Corporation, North American Surveys and Arleigh Smith. This has
added to the vast amount of records obtained with the purchase of Comstock
and Davis. A library has been established at the Bloomington office to
house the historical records, books and photographs of the acquired companies
and the historical information accumulated by Sunde Land Surveying during its
30 years in business.
In July 2007, Sunde Land Surveying purchased Carley-Torgersen, Inc, a
land surveying company that was located in Little Canada since 1948.
Carley-Torgersen was started by Milner W. Carley and was eventually
sold to his son, Don Carley. In 1990, Dave Torgersen, a long time
employee, and his wife, Karen, purchased the company and named it
Carley-Torgersen, Inc. The acquisition of their plats and survey
information of St. Paul and the surrounding area will widen the array
of historical surveying records to which Sunde Land Surveying has access.
As of January 1, 2008, John K. Barnes, PLS has retired from Sunde Land
Surveying after over 30 years of service. Arlee J. Carlson, PLS and
Lenny F. Calrson were added as Principals and will be taking over where
John left off running the everyday operations of Sunde Land Surveying.
